Privacy notice

How Trident Insurance Company collects, uses, shares and protects the personal information of applicants, policyholders, claimants and website visitors.

This page is sample text for a demonstration environment, not the operative privacy notice of a real insurer.

Effective January 1, 2026. Last reviewed July 2026.

What we collect

Information we collect

We collect only what underwriting, claims handling and servicing your policy require, from you, from your agent, and from the sources described below.

Application and underwriting information

Name, address, date of birth, driving history, prior carrier and loss history, vehicle or property details, payroll and class-code information for workers’ compensation, and anything else you or your agent provide to get a quote or bind a policy.

Claims information

Details of a reported loss, medical and treatment records relevant to a bodily-injury or workers’ compensation claim, repair estimates, photographs, witness statements and correspondence with adjusters and counsel.

Credit-based insurance scores

Where permitted by state law, we may order a credit-based insurance score from a consumer reporting agency to help evaluate a personal auto application. This is a scoring model, not your credit score, and you have the right to know if it affected your rate.

Telematics and usage-based data

If you enrol in a usage-based auto programme, we collect driving data — such as speed, braking, mileage and time of day — from a connected device or mobile application you have opted into. Participation is voluntary and you may withdraw at any time.

Third-party reports

We may obtain a motor vehicle report (MVR), a claims history report such as CLUE, prior-carrier loss runs, property inspection reports, and public records, to verify information and evaluate risk.

Use and disclosure

How we use and share information

How we use it

To quote, underwrite, issue and renew policies; to investigate, adjust and pay claims; to bill and collect premium; to detect and prevent fraud; to comply with legal and regulatory obligations; and to service your account, including responding to your requests.

Who we share it with

We disclose personal information only where necessary to:

  • your independent agent, to quote and service your policy;
  • reinsurers, who share the risk we underwrite;
  • service providers under contract — claims adjusters, appraisers, medical reviewers, printers and IT vendors — bound to use it only to perform that service;
  • affiliated companies within the Trident group, for the purposes described in this notice;
  • regulators and law enforcement, where required by law, subpoena or court order, or to report suspected fraud; and
  • another party with your consent, such as a lender named on your policy.

We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration.

Stewardship

Retention, security and your rights

Retention

We retain policy and claim records for as long as your policy is in force and afterward for the period required by the insurance statute of limitations, regulatory record-keeping rules and our own document retention schedule, whichever is longest.

Security

We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, consistent with the safeguards standard of the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act (GLBA) and applicable state insurance data security laws.

Your rights

Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to access, correct or receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to be told the reason for an adverse underwriting decision. Several states also give policyholders specific rights under their own insurance information and privacy protection acts, modelled on the NAIC Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Model Act. To exercise a right described here, use the contact details below.
